Secret Place by Jewel Simpson

Secret Place was painted at the end of our first lockdown in 2020. I took great comfort from the idea of being in that secret place with Jesus. All my fears and anxieties about the pandemic and the trials to come, melted away as Jesus promised to be with me every step of the way.

Two turtle doves have settled amongst the blossom. When I look at them. I wonder what they might be saying. Song of Solomon 2:10 heralds a change of season, describing the cooing of doves that fill the air. Turtle Doves were heard at times of harvest so I think these doves are discussing the coming

I have always loved blossom – it reminds me of a wedding ( hence the bride and groom) Song of Solomon 1:14 talks about Jesus being like a bouquet of henna blossoms. Henna blossomed in late April/early May and was intently fragrant. It was grown as a hedgerow around the vineyards to protect the soil
